Such a fun project. This gorgeous space spurred from the homeowners desire to keep the historical feeling of their 1918 home alive while also doing a much needed update. We opened up the space by removing a central wall, replaced the old windows with larger new ones to take advantage of the view, along with adding a new Dutch door that leads to a new deck. The challenges came from an existing, and original, radiator heat system, old masonry chimney, and arched door way. We made the decision to work around those area and let them be what they are, really make them a feature. We opened up the space and gave this old home much better storage while maintaining the historic feel of the space. Letting the original elements speak for themselves was the right decision.
